Job summary

Glenview Public Library is seeking a Facilities Custodian to support the Building and Grounds team. This part-time role focuses on keeping spaces clean, assisting with meeting room setups, and performing routine maintenance as needed.

Work is 25 hours per week with weekday shifts and rotating weekends. Under the Facilities Manager, you will monitor HVAC and building systems, perform basic repairs, handle grounds care, and help with setup and breakdown for programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
• Experience with HVAC, electrical and plumbing maintenance is preferred.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license and insurance required.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, early mornings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Monitor HVAC and building systems and notify supervisor of issues.
• Perform janitorial/housekeeping duties to maintain premises.
• Perform minor repairs (plumbing, painting, drywall, carpentry).
• Prepare/set up meeting rooms for programs and events.
• Maintain light fixtures and basic electrical repairs.
• Assist with building and grounds operations, including snow/ice removal.
• Open/close building as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
