Job summary

Durham County Government seeks a Library Circulation Manager for the South Regional Library. You will supervise the Circulation Unit, hire and train staff, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations while maintaining excellent service quality.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a library or related field and at least two years of paraprofessional experience with supervisory duties. Flexible scheduling and some evenings are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field.
• Two years paraprofessional experience with supervisory or administrative duties.
• Public Library experience preferred and Spanish speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manages all aspects and activities of the Circulation Unit at the South Regional Library.
• Hires, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates staff.
• Greet patrons, check materials in/out, and route returns.
• Place holds, pull patron requests, and manage patron accounts.
• Handle fees and monetary transactions and reconcile reports.
• Oversee repairs and conditions of circulated materials.
• Make operating decisions per policy and procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service in a team environment.
• Serve on management teams and act as Manager on Duty when needed.
• Assist at other service points when required.
