Job summary

Kitsap Regional Library on Bainbridge Island is seeking a friendly Library Assistant to deliver excellent customer service and support at the circulation desk. Responsibilities include checking materials in/out, issuing library cards, handling fines, processing shipments, and helping patrons with devices and accounts.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year in a customer service environment.

Qualifications

• A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED, and one year of experience in a customer service environment.

Responsibilities

• Staff the circulation desk, check out/in materials, issue library cards, assess or adjust fines, maintain patron accounts, process shipments and bookdrops, assist patrons with self-checkout and public computers.
• Provide welcoming customer assistance, answer phones and emails, register customers for library cards, and troubleshoot patron accounts.
• Assist with periodicals processing, displays, and library promotions; support opening/closing processes; participate in branch meetings and staff training.
