Job summary

Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL is seeking a Part-Time Library Circulation Assistant to circulate materials, assist with the online catalog, collect fines, and support daily library operations.

You will co-manage patron records, help students, operate copy machines, shelve and organize materials, supervise study room access, enforce policies, and assist in the computer lab. Requires HS diploma and 2 years of customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 2 years customer service work experience.
• Ability to use the automated circulation system, online catalog and other computer based applications.
• Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree and experience in a school or community college setting.

Responsibilities

• Circulates materials and equipment from the library.
• Retrieves materials from behind the library circulation desk for users.
• Creates and edits PSC patron records in the automated circulation system.
• Helps students with the online catalog and locating materials.
• Collects monies from library users including fines and replacement costs.
• Operates copy machines and maintains printers.
• Shelves materials and performs shelf reading.
• Maintains library organization and cleanliness; gathers materials for counting in house use.
• Schedules access to student study rooms.
• Tracks daily patron count.
• Enforces library policies; contacts security as needed.
• Assists in the computer lab with basic tech questions.
• Performs other duties and special projects.
