Within this role the candidate will promote ACPL’s values and mission while following established policies and procedures. The purpose of this position is to serve the informational, reference and reading needs of library patrons of all ages at ACPL and will be expected to perform all tasks necessary to the operation of the library system. This position works under the supervision of the Branch Manager, supervises all part-time employees at their branch, and acts as the person in charge in absence of the Branch Manager. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, and a benefited position requiring one evening per week and weekend rotation.

This posting will be used to fill two positions, one located at the Graham Library and one at the Mebane Library.
- Acts as the person in charge in absence of the Branch Manager
- Responsible for the overall supervision of part-time employees and guides the responsibilities of the Circulation Department.
- Assist the Branch Manager in proper training of all new and existing staff, including preparing the daily deposit, ensuring procedures for printing and cash register funds are followed properly
- Prepare a weekly schedule and ensure smooth operations of service desks
- Manage all meeting rooms using LibCal
- Plan and implement multiple programs monthly.
- Manage library displays monthly, distributing equally amongst staff
- Assist in overseeing collection management and collection development
- Perform supervisory duties including performance reviews, preparation of timesheets, etc.
- Assist in opening and closing the library using established procedures

Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to speak Spanish is preferred
Computer Skills
- Prior experience with Microsoft Windows and Office applications and conducting internet searches is required for completing daily tasks and administrative responsibilities, as well as assisting patrons with technology-related questions and services.
- Willingness to learn new software, technology, and procedures to train staff and be able to mentor proficient and knowledgeable library employees
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach, squat, and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull loaded book carts and access materials on high and low shelves.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patrons and staff in a busy environment
