The City of Greensboro’s Public Library system is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to deliver excellent customer service, assist with reference and circulation, and help patrons access information and resources across eight branches.
Responsibilities include shelving, helping with programs, and ensuring a welcoming environment; eligibility includes a high school diploma or equivalent with strong in-person service experience.

Hiring Salary Range:$21,117- $21,961 Full Salary Range:$21,117- $29,867 Annually
Work Schedule:20 hours per work week Wednesday - Tuesday; various hours on days, nights, and weekends

Consistent with the library's mission of providing free and equal access to information, life-long learning and the joys of reading, this position performs excellent customer service, reference assistance, circulation, and reader's advisory. Assists staff and the public with reference and online resources. Shelves and straightens library materials. Assists staff as needed with library programming and services. Provides customer service to a diverse population related to the circulation of library materials. This includes the responsibility of opening and closing the facility on specified days, nights and weekends and also includes ensuring that the library environment is conducive to excellent customer service (i.e. reporting equipment problems, leaks, outages, etc. to the Manager or supervisor). Shelves library materials and straighten shelves. Carries out library and city policies and procedures, i.e. circulation and registration, cash handling, and behavior guidelines. Assists customers in finding answers to questions and in using library resources. Provides readers advisory. Assists staff as needed with library programming and services.
