Job summary

Chesterfield Public Library in Virginia is hiring a full-time Library Assistant to provide frontline customer service, check in/out materials, and assist patrons with basic account needs.

You will operate the library's circulation system, help patrons with devices, collect fines, and support daily clerical tasks, work with diverse community members, and uphold the Chesterfield Public Library Way.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of customer service experience preferred.
• Pre-employment drug testing and background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Operate the electronic library system to assist patrons with reserves, renewal, checkout and returns.
• Assist patrons with account services including PIN resets and login assistance.
• Fines collection and fee processing according to procedures.
• Prepare materials for circulation and reshelving; ensure shelves are in proper order.
• Provide in-person or phone help to patrons.
