Job summary

Brevard County's Port St John Library is hiring a part-time paraprofessional in Youth Services to assist patrons with computers, databases, and Internet searches. Work includes helping with printers and library programs, plus support for mobile devices and eReaders.

The position is permanent part-time, up to 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Close date is 10/01/2026.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework or two years library/customer service experience.
• Experience assisting the public with computers, databases, and Internet searches.
• Experience assisting with printers, library programs, and mobile devices (phones/eReaders).

$19.73 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. North Area/Port St. John Public Library. Part-time/up to 20 hours per week. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings and weekends. Performs experienced paraprofessional library work providing assistance in Youth Services section of the library. Work includes assisting the public with the use of computers to conduct database and Internet searches, printers, library-related services on mobile phones and eReaders, and assisting with various library programs. May provide direction to other staff members and/or volunteers.

Requirements

Successful completion of two (2) years of college coursework in any field at an accredited college or university [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one (1) year]; OR two (2) years of library or customer service experience. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Special Requirements

When usage statistics change, library employees may be assigned to another library. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
