Job summary

Brevard County's South Area/Franklin DeGroodt Public Library is seeking a part-time paraprofessional to assist Youth Services and the public with computer use, databases, and Internet searches.

The role supports library programs and may involve supervising volunteers. Two years of college or equivalent library/customer service experience is preferred, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework or two years of library or customer service experience.
• Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

$18.73 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Franklin DeGroodt Public Library. Part-time/up to 20 hours per week. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings and weekends. Performs experienced paraprofessional library work providing assistance primarily in the Youth Services section of the library. Work includes assisting the public with the use of computers to conduct database and Internet searches, printers, library-related services on mobile phones and eReaders, and assisting with various library programs. May provide direction to other staff members and/or volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS

• Successful completion of two (2) years of college coursework in any field [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one (1) year]; OR two (2) years of library or customer service experience. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

When usage statistics change, library employees may be assigned to another library. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
