Job summary

Brevard County's Port St John Library is seeking a part-time paraprofessional to support Youth Services. The role involves helping patrons with computers, databases, and library services on mobile devices and eReaders, and assisting with library programs.

The position is permanent as part-time up to 20 hours per week with an evening/weekend work schedule. Prior library or customer service experience is preferred, with educational credit of two years of college.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework (30 semester hours) or two years of library/customer service experience.
• Part-time up to 20 hours per week with evenings and weekends.
• Physical ability to lift 20 lbs, push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

$19.73 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. North Area/Port St. John Public Library. Part-time/up to 20 hours per week. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings and weekends. Performs experienced paraprofessional library work providing assistance in Youth Services section of the library. Work includes assisting the public with the use of computers to conduct database and Internet searches, printers, library-related services on mobile phones and eReaders, and assisting with various library programs. May provide direction to other staff members and/or volunteers.

Requirements

Successful completion of two (2) years of college coursework in any field at an accredited college or university [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one (1) year]; OR two (2) years of library or customer service experience. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Special Requirements

When usage statistics change, library employees may be assigned to another library. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
