Job summary

Brevard County's Port St John Library is seeking a paraprofessional to provide youth services support in a part-time role, up to 20 hours per week, with evenings and weekends possible.

You will assist the public with computer databases, Internet searches, printers, mobile devices and eReaders, and help with various library programs; leadership to volunteers may be required.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework or two years library/customer service experience.
• Experience assisting the public with computer use and library services.
• Ability to work part-time including evenings and weekends.
• Physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs and perform related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide paraprofessional library support in Youth Services.
• Assist the public with computers, databases, Internet searches, and printers.
• Help patrons with mobile phones and eReaders and library programs.
• May direct other staff or volunteers as needed.

$19.73 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. North Area/Port St. John Public Library. Part-time/up to 20 hours per week. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings and weekends. Performs experienced paraprofessional library work providing assistance in Youth Services section of the library. Work includes assisting the public with the use of computers to conduct database and Internet searches, printers, library-related services on mobile phones and eReaders, and assisting with various library programs. May provide direction to other staff members and/or volunteers.

Requirements

Successful completion of two (2) years of college coursework in any field at an accredited college or university [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one (1) year]; OR two (2) years of library or customer service experience. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Special Requirements

When usage statistics change, library employees may be assigned to another library. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
