Job summary

Rutherford County Library System (RCLS) invites applications for a Library Assistant. Under supervision, you will perform routine circulation, shelf maintenance, and clerical tasks using the library’s automation system.

You will assist patrons with information and readers’ advisory, support computer use, attend staff meetings, and help with opening/closing duties. This role requires good communication and organizational skills, with flexibility for a schedule including weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or higher required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret data, write reports, and coordinate multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Process routine circulation tasks and shelf maintenance.
• Assist patrons with information, readers’ advisory, ILL requests.
• Help patrons with computers and technology.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Assist with opening/closing duties and general clerical tasks.
