Job summary

CSUMB seeks an Acquisition and Cataloging Specialist to support acquisitions, cataloging, serials management, and materials preparation in the library. You will ensure timely, accurate access to materials and maintain bibliographic records and MARC data.

Under general supervision, you will work with Alma for acquisitions and invoicing, coordinate with vendors, perform original and copy cataloging, and help manage budgets and workflow efficiency within CSUMB’s library services.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a completion of a high school education or equivalent certification.
• Four years of related library experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Experience with acquisitions in an automated environment and with copy cataloging on OCLC or similar systems.
• Knowledge of national cataloging standards and practices relevant to academic libraries.

Responsibilities

• Acquisitions and Materials Procurement: Organize and carry out acquisitions and procurement for materials in all formats.
• Cataloging and Bibliographic Record Management: Obtain, revise, and edit bibliographic records; monitor vendor-supplied records.
• Electronic MARC Records and Catalog Database Maintenance: Retrieve electronic MARC records and prepare files for batch loading.
• Acquisitions Invoicing and System Support: Create purchase orders and invoices in Alma; process vendor invoices for payment.
