Job summary

South Texas College seeks a Library Technician to support the Circulation Desk and assist students, faculty and staff in accessing information. You will work closely with library staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive user experience.

The position requires an Associate’s degree and at least 60 college hours, with two years of library experience preferred. Strong communication, computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook are essential, as is flexibility for evenings

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and a minimum of 60 college hours.
• At least two years of library work experience preferred.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals and library materials.
• Ability to write routine reports and speak before groups.

Responsibilities

• Provides and promotes excellent customer service.
• Answers routine inquiries and assists users in locating materials.
• Performs circulation duties.
• Sorts and shelves library materials.
• Monitors library computers as assigned.
• Maintains student conduct in the library.
• Supports interlibrary and intercampus loan services.
• Assists with planning and promoting library events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
