Job summary

Pima County Public Library seeks a Librarian I to provide direct customer service, help patrons navigate library resources, and support in using our collections, catalog, technology, and equipment. The Librarian I will create and lead engaging programs for adults and may serve as the building's in-charge librarian at times.

Spanish speaking skills are strongly desired, and the role may require evenings and weekends on rotating shifts; travel between library locations within a reasonable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field is required; substitute allowed with stated education/experience.
  • MLIS from an ALA-accredited program is preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in libraries or related fields.
  • Experience with library technology and catalog systems.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees service area within the library and coordinates services for the public.
  • Serves as supervisor in charge of the library when assigned.
  • Assists patrons with library resources, catalog, technology, and equipment.
  • Develops and presents educational programs for adults and community outreach.
  • Manages workload, schedules, and staff performance as needed.
