Job summary

HireArt is seeking a Level 3 Vehicle Operator for an on-demand autonomous mobility project in the San Diego area. You will ensure vehicle safety, readiness, and support cross-team collaboration across engineering, logistics, and operations.

Responsibilities include driving shifts, conducting basic software and vehicle checks, and providing feedback to engineers. Weekend and night bonuses apply; candidates must hold a valid CA license and have a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid California driver’s license for 3+ consecutive years with no gaps.
• Clean driving record with no disqualifying incidents in past 10 years.
• Must comply with CPUC random drug testing program.
• No criminal history on record.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic vehicle knowledge and ability to perform daily checks and drive up to 6 hours/day.

Responsibilities

• Support vehicle operations and ensure safety at all times.
• Drive 4–8 hours daily with emphasis on safety.
• Perform basic software operation tasks.
• Document and provide feedback to engineering teams.
• Assist with vehicle readiness, maintenance, and logistics.
• Record metrics and assist with paperwork.

Job description

Expected compensation: 28.00 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Level 3 Vehicle Operator to be at the forefront of turning the company's vision into reality.

In this role, you'll always ensure safety, maintain vehicle readiness, complete software and hardware tests, and represent our client's brand as an ambassador to the public. You'll also assist and interact with multiple teams across the company, from computer vision, infrastructure, and sound design to strategy, vehicle engineering, and ride operations.

We're looking for operators who are disciplined, team players, and believe in doing whatever it takes to accomplish the mission. Working as a VO will give you the opportunity to learn vehicle and personnel operations. You'll have a front-row seat to the operational complexities of realizing autonomous mobility and the chance to contribute to the future.

Weekend shifts add 5% per hour in bonus pay! Night shifts starting at 1 p.m. or later add an additional 2% per hour in bonus pay (7% total on weekends).

Hours

• Day Shift: 6:45am-3:15pm
• Night Shift: 3:45pm-12:15am

Days

• Tuesday-Saturday
• Sunday-Thursday

As a Level 3 Vehicle Operator, You Will

• Support vehicle operations.
• Drive 4-8 hours a day with a priority on safety.
• Conduct basic software operation tasks.
• Support missions through a wide variety of roles in and out of vehicles.
• Assist with documentation and metrics.
• Provide accurate written and oral feedback to engineering teams.
• Support vehicle maintenance and logistics.
• Conduct daily basic vehicle preventative maintenance checks, services, and repairs.
• Provide logistical support for the movement and storage of vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure the readiness and cleanliness of vehicles, equipment, and the workplace.
• Assist with paperwork and documentation related to vehicle readiness.

Requirements

• Must meet all requirements to be an autonomous vehicle test driver, including possessing and maintaining a valid in-state U.S. driver’s license for the past 3+ consecutive years with no gaps
• Must have an clean driving record with no disqualifying driving history within the past 10 years, including:
  • DUI or DWI
  • Driving-related license suspension
  • Serious at-fault accident resulting in injury or death
  • Two or more moving violations
• Must comply with the company’s Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Program for public passenger service in accordance with California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) requirements, including pre-employment and random drug testing
• No criminal history
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proactive, resourceful, and able to take initiative
• Basic vehicle knowledge with the ability to perform vehicle checks and drive for extended periods of up to 6 hours per day
• Basic technical proficiency and ability to learn new technologies
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent technical experience is a plus
• Military experience is a plus
