Job summary

HireArt is assisting our client in San Diego, CA to hire Shift Supervisors who will lead a team of Vehicle Operators and ensure safety and operational goals are met on a day-to-day basis.

You will work hands-on with the crew, manage AM and PM shifts, ensure adherence to procedures, provide performance feedback, and develop expertise in fleet operations software while mentoring contractors in a safety-first culture. This on-site role supports ongoing fleet operations in San Diego.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid in-state U.S. driver’s license for 3+ consecutive years with no gaps.
• Clean driving record with no disqualifying history in the past 10 years (DUI/DWI, suspensions, serious accidents, multiple violations).
• Experience working in a highly collaborative environment with strong teamwork.
• Proactive, resourceful, and adaptable approach to challenges.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly (written and verbal).
• Role requires safety boots meeting ASTM F2412 / F2413.

• Serve as a point of contact for contractors and clarify responsibilities.
• Support operational missions in various roles, in and out of vehicles.
• Lead by example as a player-coach and take on additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Job description

Expected compensation: 41.00 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping our client find Shift Supervisors to lead a team of Vehicle Operators (VOs), ensuring they understand and execute both short- and long-term operational goals.

In this role, you’ll be a hands‑on leader, working alongside your team daily to ensure all software and hardware tests are executed to high standards. You will collaborate closely with other leaders within fleet operations to safely and efficiently drive day‑to‑day vehicle fleet operations.

The ideal candidate is a disciplined team player with a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to safety, operational excellence, and team development.

• Tuesday-Saturday: 6:45 AM-3:15 PM
• Sunday-Thursday: 6:45 AM-3:15 PM
• Friday-Tuesday: 6:45 AM-3:15 PM

PM Shifts

• Tuesday-Saturday: 3:45 PM-12:15 AM
• Sunday-Thursday: 3:45 PM-12:15 AM
• Friday-Tuesday: 3:45 PM-12:15 AM

As Shift Supervisor, You'll

• Serve as a point of contact for contractors, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and execution of assigned tasks.
• Support operational missions in a variety of roles, both in and out of vehicles.
• Act as a player-coach by working alongside the team and leading by example.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Must meet all requirements, including possessing and maintaining a valid in-state U.S. driver's license for the past 3+ consecutive years with no gaps
• Must have a clean driving record with no disqualifying driving history within the past 10 years, including:
  • DUI or DWI
  • Driving-related license suspension
  • Serious at-fault accident resulting in injury or death
  • Two or more moving violations
• Experience working in a highly collaborative environment with a strong teamwork mindset
• Proven ability to problem‑solve and improve operational efficiency
• Proactive, resourceful, and adaptable approach to challenges
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts
• This role will require safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements

Preferred Skills

• 2+ years of experience in autonomous vehicle operations, fleet operations, or similar large-scale operational environments
• Experience as an instructor, team lead, or supervisor within an operations team, or equivalent leadership experience
• Experience leading or managing cross‑functional teams
