Job description

The Lenovo Innovation Lab Manager is a Federal Work Study student employee responsible for day-to-day oversight, operations, and user support of the campus Gaming Lab. This student leader ensures that all gaming equipment, consoles, PCs, and peripherals are properly maintained, accessible, and functioning for fellow students. The Lenovo Lab Manager serves as the primary point of contact during operating hours, fosters a welcoming and inclusive gaming environment, and supports the mission of providing high-quality technology experiences for the campus community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lab Operations & Supervision
  • Open and close the Innovation Lab according to scheduled hours, following all security and equipment protocols.
  • Monitor lab activity to ensure adherence to lab policies, student conduct standards, and equipment usage guidelines.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming lab environment.
  • Track equipment checkouts, log usage data, and complete opening/closing checklists accurately.
Equipment & Technical Support
  • Conduct routine inspection of gaming consoles, PCs, VR headsets, monitors, and accessories to identify malfunctions or damage.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs; escape complex technical issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Assist students with account access as needed.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory log of all equipment, games, and peripherals.
Student Engagement & Community Building
  • Welcome all students and provide orientation to lab resources, equipment, and rules.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating gaming events, tournaments, and programming that promote student engagement.
  • Actively promote the Innovation Lab through social media, flyers, and word-of-mouth outreach.
Administrative Duties
  • Complete required Federal Work Study timekeeping and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Attend staff meetings, mandatory training sessions, and orientations as scheduled.
  • Submit incident reports or equipment concerns.

  • Students in this role are expected to demonstrate consistent professional conduct.

QUALIFICATIONS

WORK SCHEDULE
  • Hours will be assigned based on needs, student availability, and Federal Work Study award limits.
  • Students may work up to 20 hours per week during the academic semester; hours may not exceed the Federal Work Study award allocation.
  • Shifts are available during lab operating hours, including evenings and weekends. Scheduling is coordinated with the supervisor.
  • Schedule changes must be communicated at least 48 hours in advance except in cases of emergency.
  • This position does not guarantee hours beyond the Federal Work Study award amount. Students must monitor their remaining balance throughout the award period.
COMPENSATION

Hourly Rate: This position is paid at an hourly rate as established by the institution's student employment wage scale. Specific rate will be confirmed upon hire.

Award Usage: Federal Work Study earnings are not automatically applied to tuition or fees; students receive a paycheck for hours worked.

Timekeeping: Students are responsible for reporting hours accurately and in compliance with institutional and federal guidelines. Misreporting hours is subject to disciplinary action.
