Job summary

The Office of the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives seeks an Operations Assistant to support the Legislative Unit with daily administrative operations at the Capitol in Springfield, IL. You will coordinate office systems, scheduling, supplies, onboarding, travel documentation, and general operational support.

Responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, records, onboarding/offboarding, staff calendars, travel vouchers, and meals/hospitality, while maintaining

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and GSuite.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• One year prior experience in the General Assembly preferred.
• One year prior experience in an administrative assistant or office manager role.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day administrative operations of the Legislative Unit.
• Coordinate conference room reservations and office supplies.
• Maintain staff directories and administrative records.
• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding of staff and interns.
• Track staff time-off and unit calendar; support sign-in/out system.
• Administer travel vouchers and reimbursements; review documentation for completeness.
