Job summary

State of Washington is seeking a Legislative Assistant to Senator Vandana Slatter in Olympia. The role supports day-to-day office operations, coordinates staff, and serves as the primary liaison to lawmakers, staff, lobbyists, agencies, and constituents.

The position requires strong communication, project management, and discretion, with in-person work in Olympia during sessions and in-state remote work when not in session. A bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience are expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of Senator Slatter’s office.
• Serve as liaison between the Senator and internal/external stakeholders.
• Coordinate legislative schedule and communications, including drafting talking points and press materials.
• Train and supervise session staff and interns during legislative sessions.
• Oversee budget requests and office expenditures.
• Organize committee testimony and district events.
