The Washington State Senate is seeking a Legislative Assistant to Senator Leonard Christian. This full-time, exempt position requires residency in the 4th District and temporary relocation to Olympia for the legislative session.

The LA will manage the office, coordinate meetings, liaise with stakeholders, and support budget and operations year-round. Responsibilities include organizing calendars, drafting talking points, responding to constituents, and coordinating events and travel while

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and one year of related work experience or an equivalent combination.
  • In-district residency with willingness to relocate to Olympia for the legislative session.
  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends during session.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of Senator Christian's office.
  • Attend in-district meetings with the Senator and on the Senator's behalf when in session.
  • Serve as liaison between the Senator and internal/external parties.
  • Field questions from the public regarding legislation and the Senator's stance.
  • Draft talking points, press materials, and plan district media strategies.
  • Maintain the Senator's legislative calendar and coordinate travel details.
  • Oversee the office budget, including purchases and reimbursements.
