Job summary

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is seeking a Professional Development Specialist to support staffing, development, and mentoring for associates and counsel within the Energy & Infrastructure practice. You will coordinate staffing, onboarding, and engagement, and partner with Legal Talent to drive performance management and development initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced experience may substitute.
5+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or staffing context.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for multiple projects.
Experience with Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with legal AI tools preferred.

Responsibilities

Staff with a focus on equitable attorney utilization and resource allocation.
Coordinate onboarding, introductions and integration for new associates and counsel.
Monitor absence time and ensure appropriate matter coverage and scheduling.
Foster engagement by regular check-ins and mentoring programs.
Support talent reviews, performance evaluations and data reporting within talent systems.
