Job summary

The State of Oregon, Department of Justice, is seeking a Legal Support Services Supervisor 1 to lead and optimize the Trial Division’s legal support operations in Salem or Portland. You will guide a team of legal secretaries and paralegals, oversee daily workflows, and ensure timely, accurate support for attorneys across sections.

Qualifications

• Three years of lead work, supervision, or related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Must have and maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license.
• Preference for two years of high-level legal support experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of legal support staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and addressing performance concerns.
• Assess training needs and ensure staff have tools and guidance to grow.
• Oversee daily administrative work supporting attorneys across sections to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality service delivery.
• Participate in case staffing and review work for accuracy and proper documentation.
• Manage workload distribution and long-term planning to keep work moving across sections.
• Coordinate with partner agencies, courts, vendors, and DOJ units to support smooth operations.
