Job summary

Oregon Department of Justice is seeking a Legal Support Services Supervisor 2 in Salem or Portland. You will provide strategic leadership to legal secretaries and paralegals, supervise staff, oversee budgeting, and coordinate with courts and partner agencies to ensure efficient case progress.

The role emphasizes mentoring, performance management, and developing initiatives across the Trial Division, with opportunities to influence operations in a fast-paced legal office.

Qualifications

• Four years of lead work or supervision experience.
• Or one year of related experience and a related Bachelor’s degree plus an Oregon driver’s license.
• Preference for two years of experience as a high-level legal support professional.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a multidisciplinary legal support team with hiring, performance management, coaching.
• Identify training needs and develop opportunities aligned with division goals.
• Collaborate with Trial Division leadership on staffing and planning.
• Oversee clerical, administrative, and paraprofessional work for assigned sections.
• Review paraprofessional work and participate in case staffing with attorneys.
• Manage workload distribution and coordinate workflow with courts and partner agencies.
• Review paraprofessional billing and monitor office budget activity; prepare management reports.
