Job summary

International Justice Mission (IJM) seeks a Legal Operations Intern for the 2027 Spring Internship class to support the Office of the General Counsel. The role involves contracts, data privacy, governance, and risk mitigation, with a focus on developing better internal systems, tools, and processes.

The internship can be fully in-person or hybrid in the Washington, DC area, with a 20–40 hour weekly commitment during standard business hours.

Qualifications

• Completed at least two years of undergraduate study by the start of the internship.
• At least one prior professional internship experience or significant leadership experience in extracurricular, campus, volunteer, or community-based organizations.
• Ability to commit to a schedule consistent with the required time commitment listed above (20, 30, or 40 hours per week during standard business hours).
• Interest and experience in law, including a pre-law undergraduate course of study.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Experience with human-centered design preferred.
• Experience with project and/or process management and enhancement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with legal research for ongoing matters and projects.
• Project and process coordination to improve efficiency within the Office of the General Counsel.
• Data analysis and management to support reporting and governance.
• Implementation support for data privacy practices and related controls.
• Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support.
