Job summary

Boston Hale seeks a hands-on Legal Engineer to bridge law and technology, shaping AI-driven workflows across the firm. You will work directly with lawyers and business teams to translate complex legal processes into scalable tech solutions.

You will design and implement AI-enabled workflows, configure platforms, prototype new tools, and help integrate AI with existing systems, driving adoption and improving outcomes across the firm.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience within a law firm, legal technology, legal engineering or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of legal workflows and how technology can improve them.
• Hands-on experience designing, configuring or building technology-enabled solutions.

Responsibilities

• Working directly with lawyers to understand legal processes, pain points and opportunities for automation.
• Designing, building and implementing AI-enabled legal workflows and solutions.
• Configuring and developing solutions using legal technology, GenAI and workflow automation platforms.
• Prototyping and testing new tools and use cases before scaling successful solutions across the firm.

One of: Chicago, DC, New York City | 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

I'm currently partnering with a top-tier AmLaw 50 firm that is making significant investment in legal technology and AI, and they're looking to hire a Legal Engineer to help design and deliver innovative solutions for lawyers across the firm.

This is a hands-on role sitting at the intersection of law, technology and AI, working closely with lawyers and business teams to understand complex legal workflows and translate them into practical, scalable technology solutions.

Key areas of focus include:

• Working directly with lawyers to understand legal processes, pain points and opportunities for automation.
• Designing, building and implementing AI-enabled legal workflows and solutions.
• Configuring and developing solutions using legal technology, GenAI and workflow automation platforms.
• Prototyping and testing new tools and use cases before scaling successful solutions across the firm.
• Translating legal and business requirements into technical specifications and practical solutions.
• Supporting integrations between AI tools, legal platforms and existing firm systems.
• Collaborating with Innovation, Knowledge, IT and practice teams to drive adoption and continuously improve solutions.

Key Requirements:

• 3+ years' experience within a law firm, legal technology, legal engineering or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of legal workflows and how technology can be used to improve them.
• Hands-on experience designing, configuring or building technology-enabled solutions.
• Experience with GenAI, workflow automation, APIs, low-code/no-code platforms or legal technology tools.
• Experience with platforms such as Harvey, Legora, CoCounsel, Claude or similar would be highly advantageous.
• Technical skills such as Python, APIs, data manipulation or prompt/workflow engineering would be beneficial.
• JD or legal qualification is advantageous but not essential.
