Renning, Lewis & Lacy, s.c. is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team. You will prepare, edit, and finalize documents, manage client files, and serve as the primary contact for clients while handling sensitive information with discretion.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to work independently, and experience with legal software such as Clio, Actionstep, DocuSign, and Zipforms. Immediate start date and competitive wage are offered.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; a Paralegal Certificate or Associate/Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a legal assistant or similar role (1–3+ years preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal software (e.g., Clio, Actionstep, DocuSign, Zipforms or similar).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, proofread, and finalize legal documents such as demand letters, wills, trusts, probates, deeds, and contracts.
  • Manage and maintain organized hard-copy and electronic client files.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, answering questions and providing timely updates.
  • Assist with client intake and manage sensitive client information with discretion.
  • Coordinate real estate closing and manage case schedules and court calendar.
  • Process and file legal documents with the appropriate courts and agencies.
  • Assist with billing, process expense reports, and track continuing legal education credit.
  • Conduct legal research to support attorney work.
  • Research and review titles, deeds, and other property-related documents.
