Job summary

Albert & Mackenzie is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Workers' Compensation Paralegal/Legal Assistant to support our Florida practice in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will have Florida workers' compensation law knowledge, strong drafting skills, and the ability to manage cases efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires multitasking, precise proofreading, and a proven ability to work independently with remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience in workers' compensation defense.
• Strong knowledge of Florida Workers’ Compensation laws and 60Q Rules of Procedure.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and PDF editing software; familiarity with eJCC filings.
• Experience with a legal case management system and remote work.
• Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work independently in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, settlement documents, and correspondence under attorney supervision.
• Collaborate with attorneys to ensure timely case management.
• Transcribe legal dictation of status reports and conference summaries.
• Proofread documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, and content.
• Respond to discovery requests and prepare objections; maintain electronic records.
• Manage case files, deadlines, calendars, and client communications.
• E-file documents through the eJCC portal and assist with trial prep.
• Document and bill for all billable work per procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Draftpleadings,motions,discoveryresponses,settlementdocuments,andcorrespondenceunderattorneysupervision.
• Collaboratewithattorneystoensuretimelyandeffectivecasemanagement.
• Receiveandtranscribelegaldictationofstatusreports,conferencesummaries,settlementdisbursementreports,etc.
• Proofreadandcorrectpreparedmaterialsforcorrectgrammar,spelling,punctuation,format,syntax,andcontent.
• Respondtodiscoveryrequests,includingpreparingobjectionsandmaintainingelectronicrecords.
• Managecasefiles:trackdeadlines,reviewcalendar,createtasks,andcoordinateclientcommunications.
• E-filedocumentsthroughtheeJCCportalandassistwithtrialpreparation(exhibitlists,casesummaries,etc.).
• Accuratelydocumentandbillforallbillableworkandtasksaccordingwithbillingprocedures.
• Receiveandplacetelephonecalls.
