Department of Biological Sciences Temporary Faculty Pool
Cal Poly Humboldt is known for its outstanding Biological Sciences programs. The strengths of our programs have been noted in studies by the National Science Foundation, and the Dryfus, Keck, and Welch Foundation. We offer extensive research opportunities for both our undergraduate and graduate students. We offer four undergraduate majors - Biology, Botany, Marine Biology, and Zoology. Biology majors can elect to specialize in one of five emphases - General Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Ecology, Microbiology, and Science Education. We also offer a graduate program (M.S. in Biology).
Our programs emphasize hands-on learning and personal interaction with faculty members. Many of our courses take advantage of the outstanding natural environment surrounding Cal Poly Humboldt. We have excellent facilities including the marine laboratory in Trinidad; our ocean-going research vessel, the North Wind; biotechnology laboratory; greenhouses; Vertebrate Museum; Herbarium; scanning and transmission electron microscopes; Humboldt Natural History Museum; and the College Core Facility.

M.A./M.S. degree in an appropriate field and successful teaching experience in the field are required. Those with an M.A./M.S. degree in progress may be considered. Preferred qualifications include: Ph.D.; relevance of training and teaching experience to this course; and area of specialization. For lab instructor assignments only, a B.A./B.S. degree in an appropriate field and successful teaching experience, academic or professional work related to the appropriate field will be considered.
