Job summary

Hong Kong Metropolitan University invites applications for a Full-time Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer/Teaching Assistant in the Creative Advertising and Media Design Programme within the Wu Jieh Yee School of Arts and Social Sciences. The appointee will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research.

Candidates should hold a higher degree (ideally a doctorate) in advertising, design, media culture and communication, or related fields, with a record of scholarly output, and

• Record of research and peer-reviewed publications; involvement in professional activities.
• Teaching experience with an interdisciplinary approach is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate and deliver courses in advertising, design, media culture and communication at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Undertake/engage in academic research and/or creative production activities.
• Undertake/engage in scholarly and professional activities.
• Participate in School/University activities and administration.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

• Planning, development, coordination and delivery of courses (including classroom and/or studio teaching) in advertising, design, media culture and communication, copywriting, or media management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
• Undertaking/engaging in academic research and/or creative production activities;
• Undertaking/engaging in scholarly and professional activities;
• Participating in School/University activities and administration; and
• Performing any other duties as assigned by the Dean (A&SS) or his/her nominee(s).

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

• A higher degree , preferably an earned doctorate, in advertising, design, media culture and communication, copywriting, or media management, or in a relevant discipline with relevant teaching/professional experience including programme and course administration;
• Record of research and peer-reviewed publications, involvement in professional and community services & activities; and
• Teaching experience with an interdisciplinary approach will be an advantage;
• A good command of English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua) ; and
• Forward-thinking in terms of programme development, familiar with industrial practices, and knowledgeable about local and international educational standards in the professions.

The level of appointment depends on the candidate’s academic background, experience and competence in academic leadership, teaching, research, scholarly publications, etc.
