Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center in Tarrytown, NY seeks an experienced Leave Disability Specialist to manage employee leave programs, review requests, ensure compliance with FMLA and related laws, and deliver excellent service to employees and management.

The role requires strong knowledge of FMLA, leave documentation review, and the ability to handle a high volume of cases with accuracy and confidentiality. Hybrid work with remote days is available after probation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• 1–3 years of experience in HR, benefits administration, policy administration, FMLA regulations, and statutory disability programs.
• Experience administering leaves of absence and FMLA.
• Working knowledge of federal/state leave regulations, organizational policies, and CBA provisions.
• Experience reviewing medical documentation and making leave determinations.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Administers FMLA, PFL, personal, educational, maternity, military, and other leaves per laws, policies, and CBA provisions.
• Reviews, evaluates, and approves LOA requests according to policy and regulatory requirements.
• Reviews medical certifications, assesses eligibility, and conducts timely follow-up.
• Guides associates on FMLA eligibility, leave provisions, and applicable policies and CBA requirements.
