Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking an experienced Leave Disability Specialist to administer employee leave programs and process requests with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.

The role requires strong knowledge of FMLA and leave administration, experience reviewing medical documentation, and the ability to handle a high volume of cases while maintaining service quality for employees and management alike.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• 1-3 years of experience in HR, employee benefits administration, policy and procedure administration, FMLA regulations, and statutory disability programs.
• Experience administering employee leaves of absence and FMLA.
• Working knowledge of applicable federal and state leave regulations, organizational policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreement provisions.
• Experience reviewing medical documentation and making leave determinations.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of UKG leave module and timekeeping systems; Experience with Workday and ServiceNow ticking system (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Administers FMLA, PFL, personal, educational, maternity, military, and other leaves in accordance with laws, policies, and CBA.
• Reviews, evaluates, and approves LOA requests per policies and regulatory requirements.
• Reviews medical certifications and supporting documentation; determines eligibility and follows up.
• Guides associates on FMLA eligibility, leave provisions, options, and CBA requirements.
• Under supervision, administers and approves leave requests; manages payroll timecards related to leaves.
• Responds to inquiries from associates, management, OHS, Employee and Labor Relations, auditors, agencies, and consultants.
