Conifer Realty is seeking a Leasing Specialist in Damascus, MD to help residents find homes in affordable housing communities. The role emphasizes ensuring occupancy, processing applications, and delivering excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with LIHTC, HUD, and related programs.
The position requires 2+ years of leasing experience (1 year in affordable housing), familiarity with Fair Housing, and strong communication and data-entry skills.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of apartment leasing experience preferred.
- 1 year experience with affordable housing programs (LIHTC, HUD-Section 8, HOME, RD) required.
- Familiarity with Fair Housing and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Yardi or similar property management software.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Basic math and data-entry abilities for rent collection and recordkeeping.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus.
- High school diploma or GED required; COS or TCS certification desired or willingness to obtain.

- Drive occupancy – market available units, respond to inquiries, and manage leasing applications and renewals.
- Ensure compliance – process applications and recertifications under LIHTC, HUD, or other programs.
- Deliver exceptional service – assist residents with rent collection, service requests, and community communications.
- Support teamwork – collaborate with maintenance and office staff to maintain property standards.
- Stay organized – manage reports, filing, and data entry to keep operations running smoothly.

Work schedules may include Saturdays, based on property performance needs such as occupancy levels, leasing activity, and rent collections.
When required, weekend coverage will be scheduled on a rotating basis and aligned with business priorities.
Employees are expected to support leasing efforts, resident engagement, and rent collection activities during scheduled weekend hours.
