Job summary

Rush County Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support certified staff in delivering instruction and managing classroom activities. The role includes assisting students with reading, math and literacy activities, supporting assessments, and helping with technology-based instruction.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, some college coursework, and experience with students with special needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• College coursework or passing of NCLB requirements.
• Experience with special needs children desirable.
• Ability to work with students and staff respectfully.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reading, language arts, math and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups.
• Assist in administration and correction of tests and assessments.
• Assist with record-keeping of student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, buses, playground, etc.).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Prepare and distribute educational materials as needed.
• Assist teacher with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Support students with special needs to maximize inclusion and learning objectives.
• Participate in IEP processes as needed.
