Job summary

Marist University in Poughkeepsie, NY, seeks a full-time Learning Specialist in the Office of Accommodations and Accessibility to provide individualized academic support to students in the Learning Support Program. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or related field.
• 1-3 years of related experience.
• Computer competence and excellent time management skills required.

Responsibilities

• Teach time management and organizational skills, study skills and test-taking strategies; assist with the writing process.
• Review student documentation and intake to design accommodations and services to support students academically, socially and emotionally.
• Provide academic advisement assisting with course selection and refer to academic advisors regarding major/minor requirements.
• Work with faculty and staff to provide appropriate accommodations and monitor progress; communicate with parents as needed.
• Refer students to campus resources such as Writing Center, Academic Learning Center, Center for Advising and Academic Services, Math Lab, Counseling Services, Health and Wellness Center, and Career Services.
• Assist in developing and executing programs/workshops to support students and educate faculty on disability-related issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
