Job summary

The University of Montevallo is seeking a Learning Facilitator to support its TRIO SSS – EMPOWER program aimed at improving retention and graduation rates for students with disabilities. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, at least one year of teaching experience, and a valid Alabama Teacher Certification. Experience working with underserved populations and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Some experience working with students with disabilities.
• 1 year of teaching experience required.
• Valid Alabama Teacher Certification needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the TRIO SSS – EMPOWER Project’s objectives.
• Assess students' academic needs and develop learning plans.
• Implement instructional sessions based on academic needs.
• Assist students with assistive technology use.
• Collaborate with program staff for coordinated support.
• Maintain records of student progress.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Skills

Knowledge and/or experience working with underserved populations, including students with disabilities

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to explain complicated concepts

Ability to work with students of all learning levels

Knowledge of learning strategies and study skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Special Education, English, Math, or a related area

Master's degree (preferred)
