OrthoCarolina seeks an L&D Specialist to assess training needs and develop engaging programs for associates across the organization. You will design curricula and eLearnings, focusing on user-friendly content to boost performance and engagement.

Responsibilities include delivering virtual and in-person sessions, maintaining OC Connect LMS content, and reporting training compliance to leadership. Strong collaboration with HR and managers is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing and delivering adult learning programs.
  • Ability to develop engaging, learner-friendly content across formats.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, OSHA and healthcare compliance is a plus.

Job description

The Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist will assess departmental and organizational training needs and then develop, deliver, and implement ongoing online, virtual instructor led and in person training for all OrthoCarolina Associates. The position will lead and have emphasis on creating, developing, designing, and delivering programs, course curriculum, or other instructional materials which will facilitate growth and development of our Associates to produce a more efficient and effective workforce. Heavy emphasis will be placed on developing user and learner friendly content and curriculums that result in engaged employees and highly successful managers.The L&D Specialist will work directly with the Manager of Corporate Training and the Director of Engagement and Development as well as Subject Matter Experts to create course materials and eLearnings to advance Associate development at all levels to have a direct impact on organizational performance and initiatives.Assesses need for training in the organization. Training needs may include support for new employees, staff in new roles or with new assignments, as well as Leadership and skills development.Considers the business’ culture, diversity, and ways of operating and accommodate this by developing an engaging, efficient, and effective learning experience.Develops learning content to support business needs including but not limited to:New employee orientationLeadership Development programsTraining of OrthoCarolina Policies and ProceduresSoft Skills trainingSystem and software useDesigns course content using the format that is most appropriate for the audience and learning objectives. Content could be a variety of formats such as virtual instructor led training, in person training, self-paced eLearning and support documents.Assists in maintaining content in the company’s internal website (OC Connect) and LMS, assigning courses to associates, and reporting compliance of required learning to company leadership.Supports company-wide business initiatives for growth and retention by servicing as a team resource.Regularly reviews course content to insure it is relevant, up to date and consistent with processes and guidelines.Provides logistical support for training events including scheduling, planning and operation of these events.Coordinates meetings and virtual classes/events using virtual delivery tools such as Microsoft Teams.Understands and applies adult learning principles and theories.Documents and maintains records to evaluate performance and monitor progress of trainees.Occasional overnight travel to client offices required.Participates in team/committee meetings, as requested.Participates in special projects and committees as requested by the Corporate Training Manager and/or HR leadership.Timely and accurate reporting of project status as required by Project Manager.Performs such other duties, responsibilities and functions as may be required.High school graduate.Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, management, education or a related field preferred.3 years of training design, development, and documentation management in a similar role can be substituted for a formal education.Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer, including MS Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.Previous experience in Learning & Development and training/adult education activities.Ability to organize and lead educational sessions.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Intermediate to expert level experience with design software, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Pro, Camtasia, Captivate, Articulate Storyline, or similar.Ability to accept responsibility and use initiative to proceed with necessary tasks with minimal supervision.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the Human Resources team.Ability to adapt positively to a changing environment and manage shifting priorities.Ability to lead new and current employees to apply OrthoCarolina’s policies and procedures.Ability to plan, organize and prioritize training needs.Ability to collaborate and make decisions in the midst of ambiguity and abstract ideas.Ability to understand and collaborate in creating, modifying, and implementing protocols, procedures, and processes.Skill in exercising high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making in encouraging change among staff members and managers.Interpersonal skills necessary to teach and encourage compliance with OrthoCarolina’s policies and procedures.Ability to maintain documentation of education and training provided.Skill in maintaining professional working relationships with medical staff, managers, and physicians.Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines.Clear and thorough understanding of HIPAA, OSHA regulations.
