Position Overview
The Manager, Learning and Development (L&D) is responsible for planning and implementing a year-long professional development strategy to prepare AmeriCorps members for high-quality service in schools, enhancing their leadership skills. The L&D Manager ensures members receive proper training and learning opportunities throughout their service year. Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with staff to plan and execute site-wide programming and onboarding for AmeriCorps members (ACMs) throughout the year.
- Develop and adapt training sessions, aligning HQ materials with local needs, including site cultural needs and school district requirements.
- Create and deliver new resources, diversify training materials by collaborating with service providers and local trainers.
- Identify, screen, and secure support from key individuals to enhance the Learning and Development program.
- Support the execution of learning and development events with returning AmeriCorps members.
Job Description
Corps Learning & Development:
- Oversee the execution of AmeriCorps member learning, training, and development.
- Plan and coordinate Learning and Development Days, including logistics, sessions, and facilitators, focusing on service training, leadership, and Leadership After City Year (LACY).
- Organize events such as Basic Training Academy, Mid-Year Summit, and ongoing trainings for all AmeriCorps members.
- Work with City Year Impact Staff to develop comprehensive programs that support service delivery and leadership development.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the Learning and Development program regularly.
- Coordinate with City Year Headquarters to share best practices and develop the program further (serve as HQ Learning & Development Point).
- Serve as Site Point for the LACY program, connecting members to resources and networking opportunities.
- Secure venues and resources for training sessions.
Strengthen Whole School Whole Child Service and Programming:
- Oversee observations and service delivery in schools, ensuring resources meet the needs of members and students.
- Collaborate to develop training and programming to support student achievement in attendance, behavior, and performance in English and Math.
- Conduct assessments to demonstrate member skills, using data to inform development and track progress.
- Facilitate observations, provide feedback, and support growth for members and Impact staff.
- Standardize service delivery practices across programs.
- Gather feedback from members to improve learning and development programs.
- Assess ongoing training needs in schools with Impact Managers.
- Use data strategically with Impact Analytics Manager to enhance service delivery and training.
Manage External Speakers and Develop Relationships:
- Identify key community partners to support training programs.
- Develop and manage relationships with external trainers and venues in Baton Rouge.
