Job summary

Mortenson Construction seeks a Manager of Lean to lead the corporate Kaizen-based continuous improvement program across 23+ operating groups. You will apply the Mortenson CI approach, develop capabilities, and support leaders in building a culture of improvement to drive better business outcomes.

Travel up to 75% across the continental U.S. is required as you partner with Group Leaders, coach Lean professionals, and advance the use of CI tools in diverse work environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent with related experience.
• 15+ years' construction or manufacturing experience.
• 10+ years in continuous improvement or related operational role (Quality, Safety, Planning, Process Excellence).
• Ability to travel up to 75% to diverse locations in the continental U.S.
• Experience facilitating Kaizen and applying Kaizen concepts.
• Growth mindset and proactive self-starter attitude.
• Excellent reliability, follow-through, and facilitation skills.
• Strong coaching/mentoring of Group Leaders and Lean professionals.
• Ability to influence through relationships across organizational levels.
• Active listening and inclusive communication.

Responsibilities

• Create partnerships to build trust in lean approaches with leaders and teams.
• Apply and refine Mortenson's Kaizen-based CI approach, developing capability and improving outcomes.
• Coach and develop individuals to create a culture of continuous improvement within groups.
• Engage group leaders to participate in CI activities and empower Lean resources.
