Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an experienced Lean Manager I to support the Operating Group and Project Teams in defining and executing Lean Innovation agendas and Project Standard Work, while engaging staff at all levels with professionalism and confidentiality.

The role emphasizes partnering with leadership to drive continuous improvement, coach teams in kaizen methods, and promote production preparation and 5S practices across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of six years' construction or manufacturing experience.
• Minimum of three years applying continuous improvement in construction or manufacturing environments.
• Current driver's license.
• Strong coaching, facilitation, and ability to influence through relationships.

Responsibilities

• Create partnerships with project leadership and craft workforce to establish trust in lean approaches.
• Lead by example, coaching team members in applying continuous improvement.
• Promote continuous improvement principles onsite and identify opportunities for improvements.
• Support leaders in preparing for and following up on improvement events.
• Engage field leaders to build capability in Kaizen approaches after events.
• Measure baseline performance and visibility into improvements across projects.
• Develop and implement Production Preparation Process for new scopes of work.
• Champion 5S practices with project teams and trade partners.
