Job summary

Safran is offering an Operations Excellence Intern position at its North America site in New York (Lancaster). The role focuses on hands-on Lean manufacturing, 5S, and supply chain processes within an aerospace environment, partnering with Manufacturing Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Operations, and Suppliers.

The internship provides exposure to continuous improvement projects and visual management tools, with responsibilities across purchasing, process standardization, and line-time

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in a related field (supply chain/operations/engineering).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Interest in manufacturing operations, supply chain, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
• Lean Six Sigma coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support procurement activities, including purchase order entry and supplier follow-up.
• Review and improve the Purchase Requisition process to drive efficiency.
• Collaborate with Planning and Suppliers to support delivery requirements.
• Assist with Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives to improve safety, organization and productivity.
• Develop visual management tools and Kanban systems.
• Support production flow improvements through process mapping and layout optimization.
• Assist in design of tooling and fixtures to improve ergonomics and efficiency.
• Track project actions, schedules and risks supporting continuous improvement.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement operational improvements.
