Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking an Operational Excellence Fall Intern in Aurora, IL to support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role will help execute structured events, collect data, and drive process efficiency across operations. You will participate in planning and executing Lean initiatives, support 5S and 3P efforts, contribute to Kaizen events, maintain VSMs, and perform time studies to enable data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations management, business, or related field.
• Foundational knowledge of Lean principles and tools including 5S, 3P, Kaizen, Standard Work.
• Strong analytical skills to collect, interpret, and present process data.
• Effective verbal and written communication across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute Lean initiatives across manufacturing and support areas.
• Support 5S activities to improve workplace organization and visual management.
• Assist 3P efforts to improve layout and workflow efficiency.
• Contribute to Kaizen events and waste walks.
• Update Value Stream Maps to reflect current and future states.
• Conduct time studies and process mapping to aid data-driven decisions.
• Help build visual management tools like Daily Boards and Standard Work.
• Document event outcomes and prepare leadership-ready reports.
