Job summary

Safran Nacelles Services Americas seeks an OpEx engineering intern to support lean initiatives and continuous improvement across aerospace maintenance processes. You will interface with repair, methods engineering, manufacturing, and support teams to help Safran meet business unit goals.

You will contribute to productivity, OLE, dashboards, QRQC, and value stream mapping while applying 5S and AI-enabled tools to reduce non-value-added tasks.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in an engineering field such as Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aerospace.
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with Lean-Sigma concepts a plus.
• Experience with data-oriented tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support site efforts for implementing and sustaining operational excellence initiatives including Productivity, OLE, and dashboards.
• Contribute to safety improvements, process flow enhancements, floor space optimization, lead-time reduction, and on-time delivery using Lean Six Sigma (5S).
• Support implementation of visual cues and status indicators in shop and office environments.
• Assist in optimizing workflow capacity and budget models to aid business decisions.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and 5S to improve workspace.

Summary/Objective

As an operational excellence (OpEx) engineering intern, you will support the processes required to ensure safe, quality, and cost-effective aerospace maintenance activities. You will have the opportunity to interface with repair and methods engineering, manufacturing leadership, and support teams to help meet our business unit goals. Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Support site efforts for implementing and sustaining operational excellence initiatives including:
  • Productivity, Overall Labor Effectiveness (OLE)
  • Electronic Performance Dashboards
  • QRQC
  • Hoshin Kanri and One Safran projects support
  • Value Stream Maps
  • Visual shop management
  • AI enhanced tools to decrease non-valued added task time
• Contribute to the company goals of safety improvement, process flow improvements, floor space optimization, lead-time reduction, elimination of non-conformities, and on-time delivery by levering Lean Six Sigma methodologies including 5S
• Support implementation of visual cues and communication tools in both the shop and office environment to provide “status at a glance” and allow quick and simple detection of abnormal operating conditions.
• Optimize workflow capacity and budget models to support key business unit decisions
• Actively participating in a continuous improvement culture providing recommendations and implementing enhancements to current methods and procedures. Continually improving the workspace through 5S.
• Perform other related duties as required by the General Manager to support production
