Job summary

General Motors is offering a Lean Material Strategies (LMS/WMS) Intern role in Warren, MI. The position focuses on analyzing warehouse and material-flow processes, enhancing WMS data accuracy, and creating standard work and dashboards.

You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to improve inventory visibility, space utilization, and line-side delivery performance. The internship is hybrid, based in Warren, MI, with a May 24th and June 14th 2027 start date and a relocation stipend for

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
• Must be graduating between December 2027 and June 2030
• Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment and travel to GM manufacturing facilities as needed

Responsibilities

• Map current-state warehouse and material flows, identify waste and process variation, and recommend improvements.
• Analyze WMS/ERP data to identify inventory accuracy, transaction, slotting, replenishment, and material-availability opportunities.
• Develop standard work, process maps, visual management, and dashboards to support sustainable improvements.
• Collaborate with plant operations, logistics, engineering, supply chain, and IT stakeholders to test and implement solutions.
• Potential project: pilot a WMS inventory-accuracy and material-flow visibility improvement at a selected operation by establishing a baseline, identifying root causes, developing a dashboard and countermeasures, and measuring results and/or project in digitalization, safety and or technology space.
