Job summary

KLA Industries is seeking a production supervisor in Detroit to directly manage and coordinate daily activities of shop personnel. You will plan, assign work, supervise performance, and drive Lean initiatives to improve quality, efficiency and safety across manufacturing operations.

This role requires hands-on leadership, strong problem-solving abilities, and experience with material handling, welding and forklift operation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in material handling or manufacturing
• 2+ years supervising employees
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Lean / Continuous Improvement experience
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to problem solve
• MIG weld experience preferred
• Proficiency in operating a forklift

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, direct and lead production employees to meet or beat budgets.
• Determine and assign work schedules and expedite workflow.
• Coordinate materials for jobs and maintain inventory levels.
• Examine work for quality and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Supervise production employees to achieve quality, efficiency and teamwork.
• Implement Lean layouts, techniques and tools in area.
• Balance quality, productivity, cost and safety to positive results.
• Train, motivate, monitor and evaluate employee performance.
• Control and minimize labor hours.
• Ensure safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Perform accident and injury investigations.
• Maintain shop floor organization and housekeeping.
• Minimize rework, maintenance and supply expenses.
• Communicate priority projects or problems impacting schedules.
• Distribute, collect, review, verify and enter employee production cards by deadlines.
• Review, verify and submit timecards by deadlines.
• Communicate professionally with co-workers.
• Report employee problems to Human Resources.
• Administer union rules and grievance handling through first step.
• Set up work areas for the next day.
• Open and close the building.
