Job summary

BW Papersystems in Phillips, WI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive efficiencies, quality, and cost improvements through lean initiatives and capital projects. The role requires hands-on collaboration with Design Engineering and Operations in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will develop assembly and manufacturing methods, apply A3 thinking, and lead lean implementations such as 5S, VSM, and Kaizen. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; 3–5 years related experience.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of process stability and system thinking.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; CAD/CAM tools such as AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve assembly methods using design, materials, tooling, and QC standards.
  • Liaise between Design Engineering and Operations.
  • Implement lean processes (5S, SMED, VSM, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Mentor lean concepts to manufacturing teams and leaders.
  • Lead process improvements including line balancing, layout, and cells.
  • Collaborate on product design, tooling, and DFA considerations.
  • Analyze space requirements and layout for efficiency.
  • Estimate production times and costs for costing decisions; justify CapEx.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, sales on capabilities and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Assist engineering in new product development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
