Job summary

Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA seeks an Associate Director of Development to cultivate and solicit leadership annual donors ($1,000–$9,999) and steward a 150–200 donor portfolio. The role partners with annual giving, alumni engagement, and advancement to strengthen the leadership pipeline toward major gifts of $10,000 and above.

You will manage a portfolio, travel for donor visits, and collaborate with campus partners to align funding opportunities with donor interests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two to four years of frontline fundraising experience with gifts secured through visits and solicitations.
• Ability to support annual giving efforts and provide coverage when needed.
• Demonstrated readiness and ability to listen and to work with others to reach decisions.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette.
• Able to handle multiple tasks or projects and meet deadlines.
• Team-oriented collaboration experience.
• Proficiency in CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
• Ability to travel locally and regionally and to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects (roughly 100).
• Develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for assigned donors.
• Conduct discovery outreach to qualify new donors for the portfolio.
• Maintain donor records in the CRM system.
• Engage alumni, parents, and friends to deepen philanthropic engagement.
• Collaborate with stewardship and events teams for donor recognition.
• Support annual giving campaigns and upgrade donors into leadership giving levels.
