Overview

The Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay range: $17-$19/hr

The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales. The range listed is the estimated base rate plus commission for Teammates in this position.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
  • Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
  • Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs and desires.
  • Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education to Guests and Team.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
  • Contribute to personal and team sales goals and use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Provide service across the store areas: Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area.
  • Be knowledgeable of exchange and return procedures and turn opportunities into showmanship.
  • Lead by example with high showmanship and customer service; build a client-based business.
  • Develop guest relationships and expand guest selection through inventory systems and tools.
  • Communicate guest levels and coach Teammates accordingly.
  • Coachable and receptive to Manager and Team Leader feedback.
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
  • Identify recruiting opportunities through jobs cards, referrals, and Teammate recommendations.
  • Develop and lead Teammates to meet Buckle’s standards on accountability, orientation, Loss Prevention and sales presentation.
  • Maintain a positive floor culture and professional dress.
  • Participate in daily setup, training, and performance tracking.
  • Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks and demonstrate denim showmanship and fit card results.
  • Create and develop results in the department and balance all actions with leadership expectations.
  • Demonstrate leadership during segment, including guest awareness, product involvement, and communicating with the team.
Visual Merchandise Management
  • Own and influence product through zone ownership: product knowledge, placement, lifecycle, and weekly checklists.
  • Assign zones and projects to Teammates with clear learning goals.
  • Ensure adherence to Visual Standards and Weekly Visual Checklist with urgency and accountability.
  • Execute new tools and training related to zone ownership and merchandising opportunities.
  • Identify merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations to the Store Manager.
  • Provide information during store tours and maintain a well-presented sales floor.
Operations
  • Work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday periods based on business needs.
  • Use planning tools and complete Opening and Closing Checklists.
  • Recognize security risks, follow Loss Prevention guidelines, and handle returns and exchanges per policy.
  • Navigate POS procedures and communicate with Corporate Office when needed.
  • Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with Guests or Teammates.
  • Adhere to Buckle’s Code of Ethics and policies; ensure the store remains clean, organized, and shoppable.
Supervisory and Leadership
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback; support leadership and store growth.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and maintain a positive team environment.
  • Fulfill the mission statement through high levels of customer service and teamwork.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
