Summary

The Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates and provide leadership.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay range: $16‑$21/hr. The estimated range is the budgeted amount; final offers are based on skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related factors. For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales; the range listed is the estimated base rate plus commission.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Sales Generation and Guest Service
  • Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
  • Answer questions regarding the store and merchandise.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs.
  • Anticipate and fulfill guests’ needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education, consistently sharing that knowledge with teammates.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, payment and exchange policies, and security practices.
  • Maintain personal sales consistently and pursue opportunities to impact teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by store management.
  • Provide legendary service throughout the store in designated areas.
  • Be knowledgeable of all exchange and return procedures for guests and use these opportunities to demonstrate showmanship.
  • Fill out and use the SPG daily to accomplish goals.
  • Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty programs.
  • Investigate and navigate ways to expand guest selection through inventory manager, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc.
  • Maintain and build good guest relationships to develop a client‑based business.
  • Lead by example with high levels of showmanship, excellent customer service, and attentiveness.
  • Recognize and communicate guest levels with the team.
  • Ask business‑driven and showmanship questions to manager, team leaders and teammates.
  • Coachable – allow manager to educate them in their sales presentation.
  • Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, whether the manager is present.
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
  • Recognize recruiting opportunities by utilizing Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and teammate recommend.
  • Develop skills and lead, direct, motivate, and educate new teammates to meet Buckle’s accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention and sales presentation standards.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and create a positive floor culture.
  • Model personal dress code and coach teammates on the latest fashion.
  • Participate effectively in daily setup, training, impacting and reviewing while using the Performance Tracker.
  • Motivate teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks.
  • Demonstrate passion to show, coach and influence results of denim showmanship and denim fit cards through teammates and guests.
  • Create and develop results in your department and balance all DM actions within your segment while completing the mid‑week check‑in.
  • Demonstrate leadership actions during segments:
    • Awareness of guests in the store and ensure they are being helped.
    • Demonstrate how to involve guests with product.
    • Be vocal and continuously update fellow leaders and teammates.
    • Responsible for getting guest names.
    • Understand and work both sides of the store to benefit teammates and guests.
Visual Merchandise Management
  • Own and influence product through zone ownership: product knowledge, placement, passion, preference; weekly checklist; life cycle; track results.
  • Assign zones and projects to teammates daily with specific learning goals.
  • Confirm teammates follow visual standards and weekly checklists with sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Execute and demonstrate new tools and videos that apply to zone ownership and initiate questions.
  • Recognize merchandising opportunities from freight to floor and communicate recommendations.
  • Give informational and influential store tours.
  • Ensure sales floor is consistently sized and new freight is appropriately displayed.
Operations
  • Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday days as needed.
  • Use the planner, complete opening and closing checklists.
  • Watch for security risks and handle theft situations.
  • Follow all loss prevention guidelines, including bag and purse checks.
  • Execute and teach all POS procedures.
  • Handle calls from corporate office appropriately.
  • Know Buckle guidelines for returns and exchanges.
  • Maintain positive attitude with guests or teammates in challenging situations.
  • Execute policies for payments, exchanges, and loss prevention.
  • Navigate and use all tools on the home page.
  • Give guidance and feedback to non‑sales positions.
  • Cover scheduled shifts and cover when needed.
  • Provide feedback to store manager and leadership about merchandise handling.
  • Communicate policy violations and concerns confidentially to relevant managers or HR.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store.
  • Apply Buckle’s code of ethics and policies.
Supervisory and Leadership
  • Give and receive feedback from peers and management.
  • Support leadership.
  • Promote personal and store growth.
  • Maintain professional, mature and stable relationship with all teammates.
  • Perform duties with high customer service to fulfill mission statement.

Education And Experience

High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands
