Job summary

LSU New Orleans is seeking a Business Analyst – Payroll & Grants to act as the functional lead for Workday Payroll and Grants, partnering with HR, Payroll, Finance, Sponsored Programs, and academic units to optimize payroll operations and grant administration.

You will translate business needs into Workday configurations, develop essential reports, coordinate testing, and ensure compliance with university policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Three years of experience supporting enterprise payroll systems, grant administration, ERP platforms, or business applications.
• Experience translating operational requirements into technology solutions.
• Experience supporting payroll reporting, workforce analytics, or enterprise reporting.
• Knowledge of payroll operations, labor costing, grants administration, and internal controls.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary functional analyst and SME for Workday Payroll and Grants.
• Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, Budget, Sponsored Programs, Research Administration, Academic Affairs, Internal Audit, and department admins to evaluate needs and improve processes.
• Analyze payroll, labor costing, grant administration, and workforce management processes to identify automation opportunities.
• Translate business requirements into technical specs for IT staff and system developers.
• Coordinate testing and deployment of new Workday functionality and governance activities.
• Develop and maintain business process documentation, workflows, and test scenarios.
